Hi Vickie,
I have spent my entire career in and around the military.  I know how General Clarks wheels go round, after 34 years of wearing the suit. I can sum it up in three words......  MISSION, MISSION, and MISSION.  General Clark is doing this because as a GI (retired or not, he still bleeds OD green), he has sworn to protect this country from adversaries foreign and domestic, and to protect the constitution.  He lives by three distinct credos 1)HONOR 2)DUTY and 3)COUNTRY  No Vickie, General Clark is fighting for his country. He will continue to do so. Don't expect him to stop fighting until the good guys win the battle.  I don't see him retiring, in any case.  I believe that despite the pronouncements from the mediocracy, the ONLY way that the Democrats can win this is a "heavy medal jacket" It is the countermeasure to all of the redumlican claims.  It is a ticket that will swing republican moderates, fence sitters, and most importantly of all,  our HONORED veterans and our HONORED active duty military. The active duty troops are under alot of pressure to vote republican, and Faux News blairs in the hallways on the T.V.'s in gummit buildings, and likely the hootches, day rooms, and tents overseas, but make no mistake, our GI's will vote there concience when no one can see them in the privacy of the voting booth, or filling out an absentee ballot. Our vets are being shite upon, and are waiting for real change, that they know can only come, with two vets in the white house.  I can tell you that as absolute fact. No, Vickie, General Clark, the old soldier will not fade away, he has a mission to complete.
Cindy
