I've been re-reading the Harry Potter books, this time in French.
I'm on book 2, and John Edwards reminds me of Gilderoy Lockhart--the girls love him but he has no substance.  They're not identical, but I was just thinking they are similar.
any harry potter fans here?

I loved Kenneth Branaugh as Gilderoy- new SOMW nickname, yee-hoo! His version of Hamlet is my favorite movie, a masterpiece.
JE is like Lockhart- his disguise quickly wears thin, he gets himself in serious trouble fast & has to be bailed out. He has exactly ONE trick, the memory charm & that cycles very quickly (through media, it's already over...)
Unfortunately, Clarkies may be at Hogwart's, but as a nation we are in Voldemorts lair

Me, me! And remember, beneath the charming exterior, Lochart was hiding a dark secret (a magic trick that allowed him to take credit for the achievements of others. We call it here "the media")

John Edwards reminds me of the congressional candidate in the TV show the Dead Zone. He is the one Johnny thinks brings about the end of the world.

You're so right Robbed!  Edwards has the media as his secret weapon.

Ah, but remember the lesson from the story: the memory charm backfired on Lockart as he was using someone else's wand. The media was never really Edwards's weapon - only temporary posession.
I am waiting for the act II of this sharade. I will not enjoy being right anymore than I enjoyed being right about the war.
