Dynamite
Breslin on the NYC Rally:

The idea of rebuffing and then penning people up is the respon-
sibility of Mayor Bloomberg and police commissioner Ray Kelly. They
decided to suffocate free speech and right of assembly and block
the march. They did it to stop the one picture that would have had
the most impact of any in the world, that of an immense crowd in
New York walking against war.

It was done to help George Bush have his war. Deny it if you can."

" Ray Kelly said at day's end that the crowd was 50,000. Sure. That's all.
Nobody is against this war.
He then went up to 100,000. What is he doing shilling for Bush? If they had let
people march and
had not chased them away, the full crowd of close to a million in plain view
would have made people
in Washington collapse.

Kelly also said at the end that "the crowd cooperated with the police." He had
that wrong. The police
are employees. They should cooperate with the public. Kelly, too. "
