Laura bush* forces "People with Disabilities" out into the cold by amen

....more of that "compassionate conservatism" in action....-snip-The arts
community is always thrilled when Laura Bush attends a cultural event. But some
audience members were peeved at the first lady's security arrangements when she
arrived Monday night for the Washington Opera's performance of Verdi's "Aida" at
Constitution Hall."The Secret Service blocked the one handicapped entrance,
refusing entrance to a woman in a walker and my husband, who uses two canes,
and insisting they use the steps," season ticket subscriber Erika Elvander told us
yesterday. "Everyone had to wait outside for at least 30 extra minutes (good thing
it wasn't raining or snowing) and the performance was
delayed."http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A2443-2003Feb25.htmlas
usual, the standard shrub-family excuse....BLAME THE VICTIMS !!!!, people with
disabilities, forced to wait in the cold and painfully struggle up the
steps):-snip-"Opera lovers are so dramatic," quipped spokeswoman Suzanne
Stephens. Laura Bush's press secretary, Noelia Rodriguez, pointed out that her boss
isn't responsible for security logistics. "She hopes the audience enjoyed the
performance as much as she did."
