Bush's 'Nation of Enablers'

When the New England Patriots won the Super Bowl in 2002, some
enthusiastic
sportswriters found the victory fitting because, since Sept. 11, “we’d
become a
nation of patriots.” Some wags responded by asking: “Does that mean if
the St. Louis
Rams had won, we’d be a nation of sheep?”

Following that logic, the outcome of Super Bowl XXXVII means that the
United States is now “a
nation of pirates.”
