by Ken in Seattle

I lived in Boston in the mid 70's and I cracked up the first time I heard this poem. I know some of the "Black Sheep" of both these families.  I have drunk 200.00 a bottle champaign from a paper bag on the curb in Harvard Square with one :)
All nicely reformed now so no names ...
"A Boston Toast," the famous poem by John Collins Bossidy,
neatly sums up the Brahmin culture:
And this is good old Boston,
The home of the bean and the cod,
Where the Lowells talk only to Cabots
And the Cabots talk only to God
