Edwards slap to voters - a quest for publicity

The timing of Edwards withdrawal was offensive to voters.
And while the media bears some responsibility for leaking his plans in advance, it was his decision to make his speech at 8:00PM EST that it's inexcusable. In NY polls were open until 9:00PM, and all the West coast was still voting.
I believe his choice was dictated by the prime time news time - to get his mug on TV and be assured of print coverage the next day (waiting for California to vote may have deprived him of that).
Screw the voters, I wanna be on TV!
