UnitedForClark@yahoogroups.com

I have been pretty silent since joining this group. I
came over from the MichiganforClark group, I'd like to
share with you something I posted to Slate's message
board in response to another great Clark supporter.

I was a county co-ordinator in Michigan for Clark.
During my time with the campaign I met people who have
known the man for many years. Every one of them
testifies that he is as good and decent a person as
you will ever meet. This man has inspired so many of
us to no longer sit in silence but to speak out. To
demand a Higher standard of leadership from those that
we instrust with the future of our country.

In his 34 years of amazing service to his country he
gave everything he had to turn the military from the
uncaring political machine of the Vietnam days into
the force we have today. He cared for each and every
soldier under his command and often went out of his
way to insure that his troops has access to the best
family benefits, that children had good educations,
That his soldiers recieved the best possible medical
treatment, and that no one serving under him would
ever have to endure discrimination of any kind. If
these are not the kinds of things that we want from a
President then what is?

Clark got into the race because he was called to duty.
Because over 50 thousand Americans drafted him into
the race. The last time a candidate was drafted by the
people it was another General. George Washington. They
all saw in him what they couldn't find in any of the
people running for the office. Wesley Clark was the
candidate we deserved, and would be the President we
could ALL be so very proud of.

His exit from the race came as a shock and in some
cases a great source of heartbreak to many of his
supporters. We felt like our nations best hope for a
brighter future was stolen from us so that the Media
could continue to elect a candidate more suited to
them. However even in leaving Clark emplored us to NOT
quit fighting. To continue to demand a higher standard
of leadership. To continue to fight for accountability
and honesty from our leaders. To continue to speak out
because we all know that dissent and questioning our
leaders in the highest form of patriotism, it is the
MOST American thing you can do. As the General said
"This old soldier will not fade away." And the tens of
thousands of people who came to believe in this man so
much will not fade away either. We will continue to
fight for the ideals that he championed, and we will
do this together, as proud Clark Democrats.
