I don't see this as a defeat for General Clark, the ideas he perpetuated, the hope he instilled, or the task he set for himself. It is just a change of direction, a shift in emphasis, a rest break on the trail. The goal remains Wes Clark for President in my world.
It will not unfold as we originally anticipated, obviously, but there is no blame or recrimination to be attached to that. Hindsight is 20-20, and neither General Clark nor his advisors could have anticipated things unfolding as they did from a strategic point of view. Perhaps within this setback lie the ultimate seeds of real victory. You never know.
Wes Clark has come a long way in a short period of time in his "second career".
He has miles to go before he sleeps, and so do we all.
