Back in August my wife was reading about a draft Clark movement, and she kept saying she really hoped Clark got into the race. I had listened to Dean on the radi, but had no confidence in his message or his ability to lead the country. He wasn't a bad man, but he did not inspire me. Then Clark got into the race, and my wife kept pestering me to get involved. For some reason I had to be the one involved, not her! So we started donating money. Then we started listening more carefully to Clark's message. Then we started to get very enthusiastic. We remembered him from his courageous efforts to help people in Kosovo. We remembered him from his courageous stand in the University of Michigan case, where he argued in favor of affirmative action. We were very impressed by Clark's character, his willingness to sacrifice to make America a better palce. And so we decided to devote our efforts to his campaign. We had never been involved in a political campaign before (we're really very shy people), but there we were driving up to New Hampshire to help out with the campaign, going to meetups to try to convince other people to get involved, writing letters to total strangers explaining to them why we supported Clark, calling total strangers on the phone to encourage them to support Clark. And of course blogging! What a difference the campaign made in our lives!
Thank you General Clark, for your inspiring message and inspiring example. And thank you all of General Clark's supporters. Clark has made a difference, and so have we, all of us together.
